The Police of Mahankali PS herein on the wee hours of 11-08-2023 have arrested a four member gang responsible for two Cell Phone Snatchings of Mahankali PS, one of Gopalapuram PSs of Hyderabad City, one case of Jawaharnagar Police Station Rachakonda Commissionerate and other areas as well.  

The series of cell phone snatchings in Mahankali PS limits and other areas stirred the police to a challenge of apprehending the gang.  The ACP Mahankali division took keen interest in curbing the menace.  

The teams were deputed to verify the CCTV footages, check up the complicity of MO criminals, suspects, jail released offenders and vehicle checkings were also organized.  The ACP closely monitored the work of teams from time to time by creating a whatsapp whatsapp group, took a lead of CCTV footages and finally succeded in the apprehension of a four member gang headed by its kingpin Bariya Rakesh Nagaraj Yadav @ Abhishek, 19 yrs and recovered (09) Cell Phones and cash of Rs.2000/-.

2. Gonay Praveen s/o Late Gonay Anjaneyulu, aged 21 yrs, Occu: Centering work, r/o H.No.24-42, Shiva Sai Nagar Colony, Opp Vayupuri, Secunderabad.

3. Bellamkonda Saikrishna s/o Bellamkonda Shiva Nageshwar Rao, aged 19 yrs, Occu: Delivery Boy in Zomato at ECIL, Secunderabad r/o H.No.246 Yellareddyguda, Kapra, Hyderabad.

Conveyance used 

The gang used Honda Dio Scooter for conveyance in the commission of cell phone snatchings.  This vehicle belongs to accused Bellamkonda Saikrishna who is a delivery boy of Zomatto. The vehicle is without registration number.  This vehicle was also seized.

The gang confessed that they have sold away one Oppo Cell phone to an unknown person for Rs.5000/- out of which they have utilized cash of Rs.3000/- for their lavish expenses.  The remaining amount of Rs.2000/- was seized from their possession. (This case pertains to cell phone snatching vide Cr.No.130/2023 U/s 382 IPC at CTO Junction, Paradise on the night of 02-08-2023).  

Out of two cell phones stolen by the gang from a pouncture shop at Hakimpet under Jawaharnagar Police Station limits one realme cell phone was sold away to unknown persons for Rs.3000/- and utilized the money for lavish expenses.  

Based on IMEI numbers of unclaimed cell phones, efforts are afoot to ascertain the ownership details.  

The appropriate sections i.e., 102 Cr.P.C for unclaimed cell phones, Motor Vehicle Act for Tripple riding, Without DL and Without RC etc.,  were added to existing section 382 IPC and remanded the gang to judicial custody.  

This total operation was done under the supervision of Sri G.Madhusudhan Rao, Addl.DCP North Zone, Sri B.Ravinder, ACP Mahankali Division, Sri K.Parashuram, Inspector of Police, Mahankali PS, Sri Paradeshi John, SI of Police and Sri K.Surender, SI of Police Mahankali PS, Sri Ch Santosh PC 7160, Sri Shindi Mahesh, PC 2361 and Sri Buchala Mahesh PC 6535.  The good work done in this regard is recognized and being rewarded suitably.
