KTR thanks people of Hyderabad for GHMC verdict TRS working president and Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao on Friday thanked the people of Hyderabad for choosing TRS as the single largest party in the GHMC elections.  He also thanked the party leaders, cadre and social media warriors who strived hard for the victory of the TRS candidates throughout the campaign. Speaking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan here, Rama Rao said the results were certainly not as per expectations since the party leadership expected at least 20-25 seats more. “In 12-15 divisions, the party candidates lost by extremely narrow margins of less than 200 to 300 votes.  The party cadre should not be disappointed as the people have given us the mandate as the single largest party in the GHMC polls,” he said. Ex-officio members to play key role in electing GHMC Mayor

Image
Ex-officio members to play key role in electing GHMC Mayor The GHMC has a total of 45 ex-officio members who have the right to participate in the civic body proceedings and more crucially, to vote as well.  These numbers could prove crucial in electing both the Mayor and Deputy Mayor once the new body is constituted with corporators elected in the December 1 election. Of the 45 members, 31 are from TRS, 10 from AIMIM and two are from the BJP and two under ‘others’ category.  Out of the 31 TRS members, 13 are MLAs and another 13 are MLCs, while there is one Lok Sabha member and four Rajya Sabha members. Seven MLAs, two MLCs and one MP were among the 10 ex-officio members from the AIMIM while one MP and MLA are from BJP and a Rajya Sabha Member and a MLC from ‘others’. The support of these ex-officio members could be vital in the election for the Mayor’s post and given highest number of members being from the ruling party, the TRS is poised to retain the Mayor’s post this time also.
