  FIR registered against 14 UoH students for anti-CAA protest held in February Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police registered FIR against 14 students of the University of Hyderabad for taking part in protests against CAA at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) on February 21. Notices were served to the UoH students and they were asked to appear before the investigating officer on October 6. “We did not know about the FIR against us. I received the FIR copy this morning through the post. In the copy, they have asked me to appear before investigating officer on October 6 but the notice was dispatched on October 8. I am in Nirmal district of Telangana. The police personnel served the notice to every student who has been named,” said Manikanta, a student of UoH.   Leopard kills calf in #Hyderabad A wild animal suspected to be of leopard killed a calf at Rajendranagar in Hyderabad on Friday night. The incident came to light when the cattle owner found a dead calf near his cattle shed and informed the police. The police along with the forest department officials inspected the area and asked the people to be cautious and not to wander around during the night. It is learned that the animal is on the prowl at Rice Research Centre in Rajendranagar The leopard has also created panic among the residents of Rajendranagar in August. On August 26, the leopard attacked cows and a half-eaten body of a calf was found later. After the incident, the forest officials set up ten cameras in the area but no trace of the animal has been found. However, two months after the incident, the leopard left the residents in panic again by attacking the cattle.

TS police face recognition tool “Darpan” helps autistic child to meet family after 5 years Hyderabad: An autistic child missing for 5 years was traced with the help of the face recognition tool “Darpan” facial recognition tool developed by Telangana State police. Som Soni, resident of Handia, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh was missing from his home since July 2015. Next week the missing boy was spotted by Golapara Police of Assam State and admitted into the local Child Welfare Centre. Telangana state police while using the Face Recognition Tool (Darpan) to match Missing Children’s photographs with those of children found at various child homes across the country detected the boy by matching his photos. Telangana police informed the same to concerned SHO of Handia Police Station, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh who informed the parents of the missing child.
